EC to despatch 22 special
observers to Gujarat

Ahead of kicking off the election process in Gujarat from Monday, the Election Commission is despatching 22 special observers to the state.

The special observers, who would reach Ahmedabad on Friday, were briefed by the full commission, comprising Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh and two election commissioners T S Krishnamurthy and B B Tandon, EC sources said.

Another 68 special observers would reach the state next week.

The notification for the December 12 poll would be issued on November 18.
