Bihar minister resigns, joins JD (U)

The ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar today suffered a major jolt when the close associate of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and state Industry Minister Baidyanath Pandey resigned from the party and joined the Janata Dal (United).

Panday joined the JD (U) in the presence of Defence Minister George Fernandes and former railway minister Ramvilas Paswan.

Addressing a press conference in Patna Pandey blamed the ruling party for the ''mis-governance'' in Bihar and announced that he would work with the Janata Dal (U) leadership to ''finish the Laloo-Rabri regime'' in the state.

Welcoming Pandey in the party, senior JD (U) leader Ramvilas Paswan said some more people were expected to join soon. Fernandes also welcomed Pandey.

Earlier, state law minister Deonath Prasad and three legislators of the ruling party had joined Janata Dal (U) recently.
