One district, three phases of polling

Voters in Bihar's Jamui district will have the privilege of casting their votes in all three phases of the general election in the state due to its peculiar demographic structure.

The four assembly constituencies of the district belong to four different parliamentary constituencies -- Banka, Begusarai, Godda and Munger.

That is not all. Electoral allies -- the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal -- are engaged in a 'friendly' contest in the Chakai assembly segment in Godda while in the other three segments they remain partners.

The Congress will support RJD candidates in the Jamui assembly constituency in Munger and in the Jhajha assembly constituency in Banka.

Godda will go to the polls on Saturday, September 18, while Begusarai and Munger seats will have elections on September 25. Elections will be held in Banka on October 3.
