EC reschedules Anantnag poll for Oct 4

The Lok Sabha election in Anantnag parliamentary constituency in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on October 4.

Announcing this in New Delhi today, the Election Commission said polling was due to be held on September 18, but was countermanded after the killing of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ghulam Hyder Noorani.

The notification for the election will be issued tomorrow.

The date for completion of the electoral process is October 10.

The last date for filing of nominations now will be September 17. Scrutiny will take place the next day and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be September 20.

Nominations may be filed by BJP candidates only.
