Vajpayee takes time off campaign, calls on Saibaba

Prime Minister A B Vajpayee today took time off his busy campaign schedule and had a darshan of Sri Satya Saibaba at Puttaparthi this evening.

Vajpayee, who arrived from Bellary by helicopter, drove to Prashanthi Nilayam and was with Sri Saibaba for about 20 minutes. According to sources, the prime minister had a one-to-one meeting with Sri Saibaba before emplaning for Bangalore.

Earlier, Vajpayee had arrived from Hyderabad and heli-hopped to Bellary to campaign for Sushma Swaraj who is taking on Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The police had made tight security arrangements, even though it was described as a private visit. Officials kept pressmen at bay and did not allow them inside the airport.
