13th Lok Sabha will meet on October 20

The first sitting of the 13th Lok Sabha will be held on October 20 for the oath and affirmation of the newly elected members, for election of speaker, and other urgent business. The session is expected to last till October 29.

The Rajya Sabha will meet from October 21 to 29. The two houses will have a joint sitting on October 25. On October 22, the main agenda of the Lok Sabha is to elect a new speaker of the house. A decision to this effect was taken by the new council of ministers today.

The cabinet also decided to request President K R Narayanan to address the joint session of two houses of Parliament in the historic Central Hall. He is expected to apprise the members of the policy and programmes to be implemented by the government. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will introduce the members of his council of ministers to the members of both the houses.
