DMK meet to decide on joining govt today

The Dravida Munnetra Kazagham Parliamentary Party is meeting in New Delhi today to take a crucial decision on joining the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

DMK president M Karunanidhi had earlier announced that the party's working committee would meet in Madras to take the decision.

Karunanidhi had a brief meeting with the prime minister last night in connection with the DMK's participation in the government.

Indications are the DMK would join the government provided certain infrastructure ministries are allotted to its members of Parliament.

Meanwhile, the four-member Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazagham, an ally of the DMK, would join the National Democratic Alliance government, according to its general secretary Vaiko.
