Sensex gains 44.11 points

With the Lok Sabha election trends 'showing few surprises', the Bombay Stock Exchange was more worried about the hike in diesel prices.

A broker said the markets were still shocked about the unexpected hike which would have a severe impact on the economy.

The markets, however, hope for a stable government, regardless of which formation comes to power.

The Sensex and the Nifty have touched 4753 and 1415, registering a gain of 44.11 and 36 respectively.

The BSE has extended its trade timings today. It will be open till 1630 hours.
