MP Youth Congress wants Priyanka to take on Vajpayee

The Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress today urged the party high command to field Priyanka Vadra to take on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from Lucknow.

''Priyanka symbolises youth. She is the country's political future'', state Youth Congress president Govind Singh Rajput told reporters, reacting to AICC general secretary Ahmed Patel's reported statement in Ahmedabad that Congress leaders and people from Uttar Pradesh were mounting considerable pressure on the party high command to field Priyanka from Lucknow.

Asked why he felt that Priyanka should contest from Lucknow, Rajput claimed that development had not taken place there as it should have in Vajpayee's constituency. Besides Lucknow, Vajpayee had also represented Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh and Gandhinagar in Gujarat, he said, and alleged that these constituencies did not receive much attention as far as development was concerned.
