Mahatma's grand daughter opposes
Sonia's bid for prime ministership

Sumitra Gandhi Kulkarni, the grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi, today strongly favoured a law to ensure that only natural born Indian citizens occupied high offices in the country.

"I do believe that only a natural born Indian should hold the offices of President, vice president and prime minister," she told newsmen in Bangalore

Kulkarni, who joined the BJP two months ago, was releasing the campaign cassettes of her party.

She said: "Though Gandhi has every right to contest elections and and it was for the voters to decide her fate, an election candidate should have Indian ethos which do not come from just signing a citizenship form.''
