The cream of India's managerial crop is skimmed from this institute. The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is one of the best management schools in Asia. Its web site contains most of the information that an aspiring management whizkid would need. Details about the courses offered -- which include the Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA equivalent), Fellow Programme in Management (PhD equivalent), Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for management teachers and trainers and a series of refresher courses for middle and top level management -- and admissions and financial aid are covered adequately. An entire section is reserved for the recruitment process. Here you will find statistics like these: the batch of 1998 placements saw 72 recruiters visiting the campus. The average annual salary for the batch was Rs 7,50,000. Surprisingly, it does not have a search feature, but since it's not such a huge site, a manual search shouldn't be too much of a bother.

According to the site, it is among the top 20 management schools in the Asia Pacific region. Besides its coveted Master's Degree in Management Studies, JBIMS offers management students a mixed bag of full-time and part-time degree, diploma and doctorate courses. For practising managers, too, there are a host of executive programmes to choose from. Surprisingly, there are absolutely no details about admission. The best you could do is e-mail your queries to them. As with most Indian management sites, there's a whole section on the placement services offered by the institute. This includes the mandatory summer placement between two academic years, and the permanent placement service after completion of the course. The site is devoid of any visual and graphic relief. The only advantage of being purely textual in content is that the site loads pretty quickly.
