    The On-Line Campus (OLC) of NYIT offers the following courses: BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, BSc in Interdisciplinary Studies, BSc in Behavioral Sciences and Management. Facilities like computer conferencing are available on enrolment.

    CyberSchool aims at creating a viable alternative to regular high school programmes on the worldwide web. Among the courses offered, the popular ones are Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and World Languages. Other interesting courses include Heroes in Western Literature, Horror Literature, Creative and Technical Writing. Interesting links like CyberSchool: The Movie are also part of the site; as is the CyberSchool Survival Guide which lists tips for students from other students. Visitors can obtain detailed information on costs, accreditation, classrooms and what the Press says about CyberSchool. Most courses cost $ 300 per student, per semester, per class, but if you are lucky you could get a scholarship.

    ZDNet University offers over 150 online courses in today's hottest computing topics, including networking and databases. Fresh batches start every week. The courses cost as low as $4.95 per month.

    The Iowa State University College of Engineering is affiliated with the National Technological University (NTU), a consortium of 47 universities that offers over 200 distance education credit courses via satellite to engineers. Over 3,000 engineers enroll for NTU courses annually; and some Iowa State courses are offered simultaneously over NTU and via videotape. The college boasts 13 undergraduate curricula and confers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees as well. There are adequate links to course registration information, prerequisites, fees and computer resources, but there is no search facility. There is no mention about fees, financial aid or international students.

    Walden University offers PhDs in Applied Management and Decision Sciences / Education / Health / Human Services and Professional Psychology, along with an MS in Psychology and Education. Requirements vary depending upon the chosen programme. Also offered here are Knowledge Area Module or 'KAM' based programmes and course-based programmes delivered in a variety of modes including on-line instruction. Faculty and students can use the web to facilitate highly interactive on-line seminar discussions, from any location and at their own time. Links to the faculty of respective departments are also provided for any queries, along with connections for Frequently Asked Questions, admission requirements, applications and financial aid. Visitors can also use the search facility to search by keywords, site map or site index, and the engine generates a lot of information for foreign students.

    The Continuing Education Network offers a range of programmes including fully synchronised audio, video, full screen animation and modular multimedia courses. You can scan more than 150 tutorials available. One can also choose from the tutorial list for a free demonstration. This list includes Office 97 Interactive, Lotus 1-2-3 97 Introduction, FrontPage 98 Advanced, Windows 98 Time Management and Win 98 Networking Finances. The Network creates multimedia educational presentations for delivery over the Internet and Intranets using data streaming technology. You can also gift someone a tutorial! Other useful links include free course demonstrations, intermediate / advanced courses, topic search and customer service, FAQs, payment information, exams and privacy practices.

    Canyon College of Idaho offers distance education programmes leading to business degrees like the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Online Degree Catalogue covers the other departments like education, psychology / counselling, social work and religion. The web site offers a comprehensive FAQ list, degree profiles, admissions info and registration details.

    GENESIS -- Global Electronic Networked Education Study & Instruction Services -- is the online segment of the UBC Continuing Studies Internet Programs. It's course, Mastering Cyberspace, is designed for new Internet users who want to master the World Wide Web. It has plenty of links and an online instructor.

    More than a dozen courses are available online from the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. These include advanced technical writing and web site designing.

    Going by the facts provided on its web site, the North Dakota Division of Independent Study is the fourth largest K-12 distance education provider in the USA. It boasts over 160 classes and 8,200 students. A bit gaudy in design, the site nevertheless provides adequate information on enrolment procedures, registration costs, methods of payment and discounts. The enrolment form is available online. Among the online courses being offered are Computer Applications, Individual and Team Sports, Knowing About Art, Literature for Reluctant Readers, Global Politics, US History, World Geography, World History, Earth Science and Consumer Math. Students over 60 years of age receive a 12 per cent discount on all materials and fees. The institution has over 5,800 students from 50 states and 35 countries.

    The Archipelago Distance Learning Course is a complete course distributed via the World Wide Web and CD-ROM. Archipelago develops interactive multimedia courses for distance and distributed learning, giving students the flexibility of taking them anytime and anywhere. Instructors with complete course content as well as easy-to-use editing tools to modify presentations are offered. Courses include General Chemistry, Microeconomics and Physics (Calculus-based). The content is presented using original animation, audio, video, interactive simulations, text and graphics. The organisation offers web-based support for its distance learning courses, each of which has a unique Course Administration web site for post individualised content such as lecture notes, course descriptions and syllabi, homework assignments and other course-specific information. There are also links to course web sites, sample media, and an extremely competent list of web resources for students interested in distance education.

    The Cleveland Institute of Electronics offers degree and non-degree courses in electronics engineering, electronics technology, broadcast engineering, color TV troubleshooting, electronic communications, computer programming, and digital and microprocessor technology. Check out a free catalogue, student services, FAQs and training videos -- on the opening interface. The institute also offers a Premier Associate Degree in Electronics with theory, lab experiments, and in-depth coverage. For foreign students the "Guide to Prospective Students Living Outside of the USA'' is good bet.

    The Australian Correspondence School offers over 260 distance education courses outside Australia, including many accredited programs. Links lead visitors to the various courses offered in horticulture, agriculture, science, business and management, journalism, photography, health, ecotourism and computers. A unique feature is a facility called 'Design Your Own Course.' There is comprehensive information for students of India, Pakistan, Philippines and Japan. A free 80-page handbook can be ordered and sent to any part of the world.

    What the City University in Renton has an electronic instruction centre offering courses in areas as diverse as critical thinking, statistics, ethics, information processing, Local Area Networks, software project management, intermediate composition, human resource management, criminal law and quality management. The site is well documented and also offers its visitors a free download page and the Distance Learning Handbook (that needs Adobe Acrobat Reader). Comprehensive data on electronic course syllabi, how to use the centre, and identify your course is another highlight. Details on admissions, library services and job opportunities are also present.

    ETSU's Distance Education has an Office of Distance Education that offers interactive television, pre-taped television and on-line courses to help students acquire degrees like a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. Its site is vast and, even though there are no graphics, has a lot of links on the institute's distance education network, support services, online courses, Frequently Asked Questions about distance education courses, admissions and even financial aid.

    If distance learning from Australia is what you want, this is one of the best places to take your pick. Open Learning Australia (OLA) is an educational organisation owned by seven of Australia's leading universities, namely Curtin University of Technology, Griffith University, Macquarie University, Monash University, RMIT University, University of Queensland and University of South Australia. The site helps you pick a university of your choice, browse through its distance education courses and even apply in a few cases. Students can do post secondary studies from home, with no entrance requirements and subjects provided by established educational institutions. Links for each university cover the various courses and units offered, information on specific courses, application procedures and lots more.

    The web site for Distance Education at Louisiana State University is simple, with no frills attached. The institute uses its LSU System Compressed Video Course Schedule to conduct classes and courses on the Internet. Among the courses offered are special topics in Environmental Sciences, Principles of Adult Education, Informal Education Programs for Youth, Intermediate French, Principles of Collection Management and Information Science. There is no information about fees.

    The correspondence college offers distance and open learning consultancy to various organisations. The homepage provides links to the basics of distance learning, training providers and courses. More than 100 courses are offered, both in professional and personal development, from first qualification to post-graduation. Work-related courses include accountancy, finance, computing, export, marketing and sales; while academic courses cover art, astronomy, English, creative writing and journalism.

    This one's for the continuing education and training of licensed health care professionals -- what the lay man calls 'doctors'. MedWay offers convenient and interactive educational courses that combine technology and professional services. A simple, quick site, visitors are offered links to information on nurse practitioners, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, nursing and mandatory in-service modules. Information on costs, article summaries and even online post-tests to each course are well-documented. For those interested in nursing, MedWay offers online Nurse Practitioner CE courses approved by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. All students have to do is, select a course, complete the online post-test and submit the answers. Results are received approximately 10 seconds after submission. Score above 75 per cent and a certificate is mailed to you. Failure at passing the test also enables students to repeat the test free of charge.

    Distance Education Courses at the University of Alberta cover a wide spectrum. Offered for graduates and undergraduates, they are delivered either by videoconferencing, correspondence or the web. Subjects include botany, science in health promotion, medical education, continuing pharmacy education, medical laboratory science, adult education, teacher librarianship, nursing, biomedical and electrical engineering. Other links cover the support services, student services, university online library, a site map, search facility and FAQ list.

    The California Distance Learning Project home page offers not courses but links to some excellent online education centers.

    Distance Learning, Kansas State University offers degrees in non-traditional study bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, bachelor degrees in dietetics, interdisciplinary social science, animal sciences and industry. There are also masters / advanced degrees in educational administration and leadership, agribusiness, and adult and continuing education. Finally, as for the online courses, the site lists them all and gives students a comprehensive glimpse at what they all offer. These courses include general biochemistry, applied leadership skills, an introduction to information technology, human nutrition, environmental issues in hospitality and food production management.

    Seven courses are available online at present, including sociology and psychology. E-mail addresses of the course coordinators are given for correspondence, and credits are awarded

    IIT Kharagpur's distance section offshoot. Offers number of computer-related courses. A comprehensive web site with links to courses, fees etc on the homepage.
