The seniors may no longer be the flavour of the season when it comes to Indian cricket but veterans Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan are leaving no stone unturned to make an unlikely comeback to the Indian team.

Yuvraj and Zaheer have both been dropped from the Indian team in all three formats as the selectors are bringing in young players with the 2015 World Cup in mind.

In order to compete with the youngsters, the two left-handers have decided to work extra hard on their fitness and are currently training with renowned trainer Tim Exeter, who is known to have worked with the likes of Ryan Giggs and some of the top rugby players in the world, in Brive-la-Gaillarde, Southern France.

Yuvraj, who last played for India in the ODI series against England in January, where he scored just one half-century, is looking to make a comeback to the team for the home ODI series against Australia in October, with his ultimate goal the 2015 World Cup.

"2015 is very much a goal, and the target. I am really determined to make it happen. After recovering from cancer I started well. But then I had issues with my form and back during the IPL. I have seen many ups and downs to deal with this. Hopefully, the coming season will turn things around. I am giving my best. That is what I can do. Rest is destiny," the 32-year-old left-hander was quoted as saying in the Times of India.

Yuvi was ignored for the ICC Champions Trophy in England in June because of poor fitness and form.

Interestingly, the two former Indian stars, who were part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad are staying as paying guests with a local family.

They will undergo a rigorous 42-day training course, which among other things includes roving and beach running.

"This training schedule of 4-5 hours every day is extremely exhausting and leaves you drained. But with each passing day I am feeling fitter and stronger," Yuvraj said.

The 34-year-old Zaheer last played for India in the Kolkata Test against England in December 2012.
