It was also a special evening for KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, who recently made a comeback to the Indian Test squad for their forthcoming tour of England.

Gambhir, who was retained by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL auctions in February, proved his worth yet again as he led the team to their second IPL title in three years.

The left-hander, who started the tournament with three ducks in a row, staged a remarkable turnaround to finish with 335 runs in 16 innings with three half-centuries.
