Kolkata Knight Riders have every reason to feel proud of their performance, having pushed Chennai Super Kings to the limit, coach Trevor Bayliss said on Sunday.

Chasing 201 to win, Kolkata managed 186 for four as Manvinder Bisla batted superbly, scoring 92 runs.

"I must say that we were fantastic in the run chase. Sometimes it happens that at the end we don't have a positive result. In the middle overs we got only one or two or three runs or something like that. To look back, when you are chasing two hundred, and, the chance to win in the last over, it was a fantastic effort. I think the boys can walk away from this game with their heads high," Bayliss said.

The Australian said that his side will take a lot of confidence from Sunday's game and may repeat last year's magic.

"I think we have got to win about six of the remaining matches. Last year I think we won six on the trot somewhere. And, the boys can take lot of positives from the match tonight," he said.

'We had a chance to win with one over to go'

Asked why Kolkata didn't bat first, Bayliss said, "Watching some of the games played here on television, we thought the wickets played a lot better than last year. CSK and the lot is chasing well. We wanted to try and upset their rhythm to a certain degree."

Chennai are on a roll but Bayliss refused to label them invincible.

"I would not say that they are unbeatable. Twice last year, we beat them here. "

Bayliss also said the biggest positive he would take from Sunday's game was the confidence to his batsmen.

"I would like to be honest. It is an encouragement especially from a batting point of view. We had the best game today. The boys are disappointed that we lost the game. But we did reach close to 200. We backed ourselves and we knew it is a good wicket. We really had the chance with one over to go," he said.
