England batsman Andrew Strauss is caught by Marcus North in the slips during the first day of the fourth Ashes Test at Headingley in Leeds, on Friday.

Strauss survived a huge shout for lbw to the first ball of the match from Ben Hilfenhaus but, on three, he edged Peter Siddle to third slip where North took a brilliant one-handed catch.

England lose quick wickets

Bell was dismissed when he gloved a short delivery to wicketkeeper Brad Haddin and was dismissed for 8 as England slipped to 39 for three.

 

Clark cripples England

Pacer Stuart Clark marked his return to the Australian side by taking three wickets for five runs in 21 balls as England collapsed to 72 for six at lunch.

Clark, playing his first Test in nine months, removed Paul Collingwood for a duck and then dismissed Alastair Cook for 30.

Stuart Broad became his third victim when he was caught at short mid-wicket by Simon Katich for three.

 

Siddle skittles out England

Onions popped up a catch to Katich at short leg off Siddle and the seamer completed figures of five for 21.
