Five-star Jadeja shines for India
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed his maiden five-wicket haul and Shikhar Dhawan hit his second successive century as India outclassed West Indies by eight wickets to seal their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Oval, in London, on Tuesday.
India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl in overcast conditions. The World champions went in with an unchanged side, the one that beat South Africa in their previous match, while the West Indies replaced suspended Denesh Ramdin with all-rounder Darren Sammy.
Gayle falls for 21
West Indies opener Chris Gayle threatened briefly at the start as he hit a quick 21 from 18 balls, with the help of four boundaries.
However, the left-hander was dismissed in the fifth over by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with R Ashwin taking a good catch at first slip.
Charles hits quickfire half-century
Johnson Charles took over the mantle of getting quick runs after Gayle's dismissal and scored a quick half-century.
The right-hander slammed 60 from 55 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes, to help the West Indies race to 102 for one after 19 overs.
Jadeja leaves West Indies reeling
Jadeja led India's comeback with the ball after the West Indies had got off to a good start.
He claimed a wicket each in three successive overs as the West Indies slipped from 103 for one in the 19th over to 109 for four in the 24th over.
Marlon Samuels and Ramnaresh Sarwan were both dismissed for one, before Jadeja accounted for the wickets of Sunil Narine and Ravi Rampaul to finish with splendid figures of five for 36 in 10 overs, including two maidens.
Jadeja is the fourth Indian bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in England, after Kapil Dev in 1983, and Robin Singh and Venkatesh Prasad in 1999.
Sammy's late cameo rescues West Indies
Darren Sammy changed the script in the final few overs with a blazing half-century. He smashed 56 from 35 balls, hitting five boundaries and four sixes, to lift the West Indies to 233 for nine in their 50 overs.
The West Indies scored 51 for one in their last five overs, with Sammy taking centrestage with the bat.
Rohit hits another fifty
Rohit Sharma continued his good form at the top of the order with another impressive half-century.
The right-hander hit a fluent 52 from 56 balls as he put on 101 runs for the opening wicket with Shikhar Dhawan to put India in control.
Dhawan continues good form
Dhawan continued his recent good run with the bat as he went on the attack right from the start.
The left-hander raced to 50 from just 45 balls, hitting six boundaries, as the West Indies bowlers struggled to make an impression in the early overs.
Dhawan hits second century in a row
Rain briefly interrupted play but there was no stopping Dhawan as he led India's charge towards another convincing victory.
Dhawan brought up his hundred in some style as he hit Dwayne Bravo for a six over point, from 102 balls. The left-hander became only the third batsman to score two consecutive hundreds in the Champions Trophy after Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Sri Lankan Upul Tharanga.
