Zaheer available for Ireland, England tours

June 11, 2007 15:15 IST

Injured pace spearhead Zaheer Khan is available for selection for the tours of Ireland and England.

"The MRI scan taken of Zaheer Khan's groin is clear and he should be available for selection though a final report from team physio John Gloster is awaited," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said in Bangalore on Monday.

Zaheer sustained the injury during the second ODI of the Afro-Asian Cup tournament in Chennai on June 9 and did not complete his third over of the innings when Asia XI fielded. He did not play in Sunday's third and final ODI.

The Indian squad for Ireland and England tours will be named in Delhi on Tuesday. All five selectors and captain Rahul Dravid will attend the selection committee meeting.

Dravid, who is part of the four-day fitness-specific batsmen's camp in Bangalore, which began on June 9, will miss the last day's session as he will be leaving for Delhi on Tuesday morning.

Pacer Munaf Patel has also been given a clean chit by Gloster after the fitness-specific bowlers' camp, in Mysore from June 4 to 8, Shah informed.

"Munaf has been declared fit by Gloster," he said.

Patel broke down on the tour of Bangladesh citing lower back pain and returned home. He did not take part in the Twenty20 Cup tie for Asia XI against Africa XI, in Bangalore on June 5.
