Former India [ Images ] captain Sourav Ganguly [ Images ] today said the incident involving Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider should be an eye opener to the young cricketers.

"Zulqarnain incident is an eye opener. I have played top level cricket for 14-15 years but never faced such a situation. I shudder to think that someone picks up a phone and gives a threat," Ganguly told reporters here on the eve of the Mohammedan Sporting Platinum Jubilee Cup.

The former left-handed batsman, however said that he did not agree with Haider's reaction and his decision to take political asylum in England [ Images ].

"He should have played on," said Ganguly, adding, "It is a lesson for the young cricketers and they should be very careful about betting."
