World T20: Figure out the tournament's highs and lows

Last updated on: October 09, 2012 12:57 IST

The West Indies were crowned World Twenty20 champions after they beat hosts Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

The victory gave the Caribbeans their first world title after a gap of 33 years, having won the ODI World Cup back in 1979.

For Sri Lanka and Mahela Jayawardene, it was another case of 'so-near-yet-so-far', having now lost four World Cup finals (two 50 overs and two T20s) across two categories in five years.

A statistical outlook on the tournament by Rajneesh Gupta.
