Sunny, there are so many moments you've given us . As a boy of eleven, I listened to the radio with bated breath as you scored each of those magical 221 runs at the oval. What John Arlott said that day- "Sunny by name and Sunny by nature"- is still stuck in my memory.
I saw your 29th and 30th centuries live, and was at the ground, heartbroken, when you got out in the nineties in Ahemedabad. But I consider that to be your most magical knock. The first two balls of Marshal that you dispatched to the fence that day- a leg glance and a backfoot coverdrive- are etched in my memory, and will be erased only when I die.
I am currently in America, writing a Hollywood Screenplay. And as I was strolling in the park today at lunch break, I remembered your gem about sequels- Just as there were films like Rocky 1, Rocky 2 , winning the World Cup was fluke 1, winning in Australia is Fluke 2! Your rebuke when someone stupidly asked if lifting the trophy in Australia was a fluke.
