Bravo looks for fresh start in tri-series after CT debacle

June 27, 2013 12:27 IST

Disappointed with the early exit from the recently-concluded Champions Trophy, West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo said his team would look to make amends for the debacle in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka starting in Kingston on Friday.

"We are disappointed at how we exited the Champions Trophy, but I think those who look at the competition closely say that we really gave it our best shot," said Bravo on his arrival for the series which opens with the hosts taking on Sri Lanka.

Dwayne Bravo"We are now looking forward to this Tri-Nation series, which should be a very tough series, to see if we can make amends and, hopefully, make our fans proud once again," he added.

West Indies could not even make the Champions Trophy semifinals, which concluded in England on Sunday with an unbeaten India winning the trophy.

During the upcoming tri-series, to be played in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, the three teams will play each other twice and the top two will advance to the final.

Bravo said he is happy with the 13-member squad that has been picked for the series.

"It's a balanced squad with a lot of match-winners, who myself and the coaching staff believe can get the job done," said Bravo.

"As to which players we pick to play each match, that will come down to the opposition and the match conditions on the day."
