Dravid tops 1000 runs in a year for third time

Rahul Dravid continued his good run in 2011 and notched another milestone, going past 1000 runs in the calendar year during his knock of 82 in the first innings, on Day 3 of the third and final Test against the West Indies, in Mumbai, on Thursday.

The veteran batsman achieved the feat of scoring 1000 runs or more in a calendar year for the third time in his career.

He is the first batsman to achieve the feat in 2011.

His best in a calendar year is the 1357 runs he scored in 16 Tests in 2002; it included five centuries and five half-centuries.

The right-hander then amassed 1095 runs in 2006, and this year has already scored 1034 runs.
