Warne claims England 'cocky' about retaining Ashes

November 04, 2010 20:00 IST

Australian spin great Shane Warne believes England are getting far too "cocky" about their chances of retaining the Ashes this summer Down Under and has cautioned them not to become complacent in their fight against the arch-rivals.

The spin legend was reacting to comments from former England captain Michael Vaughan who insisted that the Ashes were just a warm-up ahead of England's Test series against India next year.

"Australian side does not have the depth to beat the English. This winter is looking like being a warm-up for next summer when we will play the number one team India," Vaughan had commented.

Warne reacted to Vaughan's statement on social networking site Twitter, saying, "Yeah, yeah, whatever bud. Your Poms are cocky at present. Could end in tears for you all, just chill."

"Just wait until it starts. What is with the English lip? You that sure of winning? I am not sure," said another post from Warne.

"What is wrong with it? It is going to be a great, close and thrilling series. Good luck to both teams. Lots to happen yet," Warne added.

Warne had earlier conceded that England have their best chance of winning the Ashes Down Under.
