Umpires Saheba, Hazare out of ICC International Panel

June 19, 2011 20:39 IST

The Indian Cricket Board has decided not to recommend the names of Amiesh Saheba and Sanjay Hazare for the coming season's ICC International Panel of umpires with only Shahvir Tarapore retaining his place.

It has been learnt that the Umpires' Committee of BCCI has recommended the names of Sudhir Asnani and S Ravi (TV Umpire) instead of Saheba and Hazare.

Both Saheba and Hazare has been in the 'International Panel' for quite some time but they failed to make it to the 'Elite Panel' with likes of Sri Lanka's Kumar Dharmasena who started much later making it to the top rung.

Saheba's performance in particular had been pretty poor with lot of his decisions were way off the mark. There was nothing to write home about Hazare too. The committee took the decisions based on their performance evaluated by the ICC match referees.

Fifty-one-year-old Saheba has officiated in three Test matches, 51 ODIs and four Twenty20s apart. He was in the panel of umpires who officiated during the World Cup. Hazare on the other hand has officiated in 5 ODIs and one T20 International.

Fifty-year-old Sudhir Asnani who has officiated in a couple ODIs back in 1998-99 finally made the cut into the International Panel after a long wait while Ravi is yet to make his international debut.
