Test cricket witnessed some great batting in 2012. However, there were only a few who could get past the thousand runs barrier in the year. Topping the list was Australia captain Michael Clarke with 1595 runs.
England captain Alastair Cook was a close second with 1249 runs. The tour to India, the country where he had made his Test debut more than six years back, is where he made his presence felt. He aggregated 562 runs in the four Tests (@80.29), even as England secured a series win on Indian soil after 28 years.
South Africa's Hashim Amla, with 1064 runs was third, while England's Kevin Pietersen (1053) and Jonathan Trott (1005) were fourth and fifth on the list of 2012's lead scorers in Test cricket.
