Tendulkar conferred Order of Australia

Indian batting icon Sachin Tendulkar was conferred the Order of Australia at a function in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Rajya Sabha MP is only the second Indian after former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee to get the honour, .

The Order was presented by Simon Crean, minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government and the Arts.

On October 16, Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard, during her visit ot India, announced that Tendulkar would be conferred membership of the Order, constituted to recognise Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service.
