Srinivasan sweeps TNCA election

Former Board of Control for Cricket in India president AC Muthiah bit the dust in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association elections as Board treasurer N Srinivasan and his team made a clean sweep, winning all the posts.

Srinivasan and Kasi Viswanathan were re-elected as the president and secretary respectively of the Association in its 78th Annual General Meeting in Chennai.

Srinivasan polled 134 votes out of the 191 polled on Sunday while his competitor Muthiah mustered just 55.

An elated Srinivasan later said he is extremely happy.

"We have been rewarded for the hard work and the developments that have taken place during the last six years," he said.

"We expected to get 130-plus votes for we have been working as a team all these years. We will continue to do our best to improve upon the facilities at district levels and bring in all-round developments in the state. It is reward for the work that we have put in. I am very happy," he said.

U Prabhakar Rao, K V Aiyappan, C R Vijayaraghavan, D N Seshagiri were elected vice-presidents (City), while N R Manivannan and K G Muralidharan were elected unanimously for vice-presidents (Districts) posts, a TNCA release said.

G Natarajan was re-elected joint secretary. D Julius Vijayakumar was elected unanimously as honorary assistant secretary while S Ganesan is the treasurer.
