Rain washes out second SL-Bangladesh ODI

March 25, 2013 20:00 IST

The second One-Day International between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was abandoned as a no-result after rain allowed only five overs to be bowled on Monday.

Sri Lanka, leading 1-0 in the three-match series, were 33 for no wicket off five overs when play was called off.

The final one-dayer will be played in Pallekele on Thursday.

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim had won the toss and put Sri Lanka in to bat.

Sri Lanka named an unchanged team from the first match, which it won by eight wickets.

Bangladesh made two changes. Opener Tamim Iqbal, who scored 112 in the first match, was left following an injury and replaced by Mominul Haque, who did well in the Test series.

Lankan openers Tillakaratne Dilshan (10) and Kaushal Perera (18) got their team off to a solid start before rain stopped play.
