The lead-up to the Lord's Test was not ideal for India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and England fast bowler James Anderson after both were charged by the ICC for an off-the-field altercation during the drawn first Test in Nottingham.

But the match turned out to be perfect for Jadeja, who ran Anderson out with a direct hit to give India a historic victory.

Riding on Ishant Sharma's seven-wicket haul, India beat England by 95 runs in the second Test for their first overseas win since 2011.

The left-arm spinner showed his sporting side as he went up to Anderson and shook his hand at the end of the match.

The two players had continued their rivalry during the match and even exchanged a few words as the Indian scored a quick 68 from 59 balls in the second innings.

It remains to be seen what comes off the International Cricket Council's hearing on Tuesday when Gordon Lewis AM, who has been appointed Judicial Commissioner, hears the misconduct case against Anderson.

The alleged incident occurred during the lunch break of the second day's play in the opening Test. The Indians have alleged that Anderson pushed and abused Jadeja, while the English counter-charged the visiting all-rounder.

Anderson faces a charge under Level 3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players following allegations that he pushed and abused Jadeja. The Indian all-rounder was charged by England team manager Phil Neale for a Level 2 offence, which carries a fine of between 50-100 per cent of applicable Match Fee and/or up to two Suspension Points.
