Newly-elected Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said former president Jagmohan Dalmiya would remain a man of utility for the new regime in the Board.
"A man like Dalmiya, with such a vast experience of running cricket affairs, will always have utility for the BCCI," Shah said after Sharad Pawar upstaged incumbent Ranbir Singh Mahendra to become the new president.
On Sourav Ganguly's fate, he said, "It will be decided by the selection committee and it is not that he will be opted out just because Pawar holds the reins."
Revealing his plans, Shah said his first task would be to make the Board a more professional organisation.
"My plan of action is to trim the BCCI administration and make it a more professional organisation," he said.
He also assured that Pawar will devote time to the Board despite his political engagements.
"There have been politicians in the BCCI administration earlier also and Pawar will work for the BCCI despite his political engagements."
On the telecast issue, he said: "Let the AGM be over then we will go through the relevant papers in detail and sort out the issue shortly."
Meanwhile, Union Minister and Pawar supporter Praful Patel said the fact that the rival faction had won with an overwhelming majority showed that the cricket fraternity was not happy with the way BCCI affairs were being run.
"People in cricket fraternity were not happy with the way the affairs of the BCCI were being run and that is why Pawar received an overwhelming support," the Civil Aviation Minister said.
Patel said after the "injustice" meted out to Pawar in last year's elections, the Maratha strongman was determined to take the reins of the Board.
"The victory was expected. Last year, injustice was done to Pawar. He was defeated narrowly by way of a technical point. But he still stood his ground and saw to it that the control of the cricket Board is taken over," he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the apex court for its intervention and facilitating fair elections.
"We are thankful to the Supreme Court that it intervened to see that BCCI election is held in a fair manner."
About the telecast controversy, the Congress leader said, "It will be done in a more transparent manner now."
