Putting a spoke in the NDA Government's peace initiative towards Pakistan, Shiv Sena warned it would not allow any cricket match with Pakistan in Delhi or elsewhere in north India as "it had done in 1999."
Maintaining that Islamabad was aiding and abetting cross-border terrorism, Sena's northern India chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal in a statement here said, "We will not tolerate any India-Pakistan match on Indian soil so long as Pakistanis continue to play with the lives of innocent Indian citizens."
Party workers would not allow any match between the two countries to be played in Delhi and elsewhere in northern India, Goyal asserted.
Ahead of the India-Pakistan cricket match in Delhi, Sena activists had on the night of January 5, 1999 dug the pitch at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds, leading to change of venue.
On Wednesday, the Government announced a set of peace proposals that included restoration of sporting links including cricket ties with Pakistan.
