Last updated on: November 23, 2011 22:46 IST

Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir took four wickets to limit Sri Lanka to 218 for nine in their 50 overs in the fifth and final ODI at the Shaikh Zayed stadium, in Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka were reeling at 46 for four in the 11th over before Kumar Sangakkara and Angelo Mathews rescued them. Sangakkara scored 78 (100 balls) while Mathews made 61 (101 balls) as the duo added 118 runs for the fifth wicket.

Pakistan have already sealed the five-match series 3-1.

Left-arm seamer Tanvir tormented Sri Lanka as he claimed Upul Tharanga and Dinesh Chandimal in his first spell while Umar Gul got the better of Sri Lankan skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan -- all three caught behind the wicket.

Thisara Perera (25 from 18 balls) and Lasith Malinga (4) also fell to Tanvir, who finished with impressive figures of four for 34 in seven overs.

Pakistan rested opener Imran Farhat, Aizaz Cheema and Sarfraz Ahmed to bring in Tanvir, Junaid Khan and Asad Shafiq.

Sri Lanka were forced to bring in Silva for Mahela Jayawardene who returned home due to knee injury.
