Sahara takeover won't affect BCCI deal

January 19, 2006 16:38 IST

Sahara Group's sponsorship of the Indian cricket team will not be affected due to the takeover of the Sahara airline by competitor Jet Airways, Sahara group officials said on Thursday.

The four-year deal, which Sahara clinched last month, would remain intact and be transferred to some other entity of the group, a Sahara group official said, but declined to be identified.

The Sahara group had, in December 2005, renewed its Indian cricket team sponsorship deal with BCCI under Air Sahara brand for Rs 313.80 crore.

Jet Airways has bought 100 per cent stake in Sahara Airline Ltd for 500 million dollars (about Rs 2,300 crore) in an all cash deal.
