0 Number of times a toss-winning captain has opted to field first in a Test at Feroz Shah Kotla. On all 33 occasions the captain has batted first, even though the results don't really justify this fixation to bat first (5 wins and 13 losses).

- Scorecard

1 Dane Piedt became the first spinner to take four wickets on first day of each of his first two Tests.

1 First time in the series a side was not bowled out on the opening day of Test. India were dismissed for 201 at Mohali, South Africa for 214 at Bangalore and India again for 215 at Nagpur

4 Number of tosses won by Virat Kohli in the series. Only other Indian captain to win all tosses in a series of four matches or more was Tiger Pataudi against England in 1963-64 (won toss in all five Tests!)

89 Ajinkya Rahane's score – highest for any batsman in the series. He obliterated AB de Villiers' 85 at Bangalore. Incidentally the previous highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the series was 77 by Cheteshwar Pujara at Mohali. Interestingly Rahane's previous highest score at home was 15.

231 India's total – highest by either side in the series!
