Former West Indies batting great Brian Lara has criticized South Africa's 'blockathon' approach against India during the fourth and final Test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, in New Delhi.

South Africa continued their ultra-defensive batting approach on day five in a bid to salvage a draw.

According to Lara, this sort of slow approach in saving the match would fail to attract more fans to the stadium even if day-night Tests were introduced on a grand scale.

"I have an issue with this part of test cricket #IndvsSA playing at night or not if this is the approach to save a match why would I attend," Lara wrote on Twitter.

Chasing a daunting target of 481, South Africa scored only 72 runs in 72 overs on day four. While skipper Hashim Amla made 25 off 244 balls, AB de Villiers remained unbeaten on 43 off 296 deliveries.
