Ajinkya Rahane has said that he always backs himself to do well, even when he is not exactly scoring runs.

"I was focussed and determined. I backed myself to take my chances. I always like to improve my game, my cricketing skills. I believe in the process because I know the results will follow automatically," he said.

Rahane, who scored centuries in both innings - 127 and 100 not out - in the fourth Test against South Africa at the Ferozshah Kotla, was named the man of the match award for his efforts.

Asked about his two centuries in two innings, Rahane said, "Really enjoyed that. Really happy for myself and my team."

The 27-year-old had a poor start to the series, scoring 15 and 2 in the opening Test in Mohali, and his fortunes didn't improve in the third Test in Nagpur either, managing 13 and 9 in the two innings.

However, his twin centuries at the Kotla not only made him only the fifth Indian - after Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli - to score centuries in both innings of a Test match  but also helped him finish as the highest scorer in the series, with an aggregate of 266 runs (53.20).
