Match referee irked over lack of facilities

October 30, 2005 19:05 IST

Match Referee Alan Hurst was left fuming on Sunday after he found that certain facilities at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur were not in accordance with international standards.

The Australian was unhappy after he was told that the advanced version of Duckworth/Lewis system (6.2) was not available and no separate enclosure for the third umpire and match referee has been provided with just a day left for the third match of the seven-game ODI series between India and Sri Lanka.

"What we have here is the 6.0 version of the D/L which is applicable only when the team is chasing more than 300 runs," a source in the Rajasthan Cricket Association said.

"But the other problem is being sorted out and a separate box is being prepared for the third umpire and match referee.

"It would be difficult for them to send messages from the box allotted to them earlier," the source added.
