Rajasthan trail by 574 runs, with eight wickets remaining.

The aggressive Binny hit as many boundaries as Pawan, besides clearing the fence on three occasions.

Joining hands after the early dismissals of overnight batsman Amit Verma (69) and Meralidharen Gautam (10), the duo added 237 runs for the sixth wicket at over five runs per over to bat the opposition out of the match.

It was a case of too little too late as Railways, despite off-spinner Shreyas Khanolkar's five-wicket haul, could not prevent Mumbai from taking control of their Group A Ranji Trophy Elite division match in Delhi.

Khanolkar returned figures of five for 78 as Railways dismissed Mumbai for 483 in 141.3 overs, after the visitors resumed the second day on 338 for five at the Karnail Singh stadium.

The hosts, however, slumped to 66 for three by stumps, still trailing by 417 runs with seven batsmen to come.

Overnight centurion Rohit Sharma added 42 runs on Friday before Khanolkar went through his defence.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar leads UP fightback against Punjab

Right-arm pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar scalped three wickets in an over, but missed a hat-trick, as Uttar Pradesh made a remarkable comeback to gain upperhand against Punjab at the end of the second day's play in their Group A Ranji Trophy Elite division match in Mohali.

Resuming at 329 for five, Punjab added just 21 runs to their overnight score before being dismissed for 350.

Bhuvaneshwar (4-82) cleaned up the Punjab tail, dismissing Bipul Sharma, Harbhajan Singh and Manpreet Gony in the space of four balls, to bring UP back into the game.

Overnight centurion Mandeep Singh remained stranded on 175 as Punjab's lower order did very little to help the home team's cause.

Left-arm pacer R P Singh, who picked four wickets on Thursday, returned figures of five for 72, while Piyush Chawla (1/75) accounted for the other Punjab batsmen.

In reply, UP were comfortably placed at 221 for three in 66 overs when stumps were drawn at the PCA stadium.

Opener Tanmay Srivastava (62), Mohammad Kaif (65) and Parvinder Singh (57 not out) scored the bulk of runs for UP.

In fact, it was the 121-run second-wicket partnership between Srivastava and Kaif that laid the foundation for UP's reply before Parvinder took up the responsibility.

Suresh Raina (15 not out) was giving Parvinder company at the crease at stumps.

For Punjab, Gony (1/57) and Navdeep Sidhu (1/45) picked a wicket each, but out-of-favour India spinner Harbhajan, who is also the skipper of the home team, returned wicket-less from the 17 overs he bowled during the day.

Wriddhiman Saha's unbeaten 167 hoists Bengal

Riding on wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha's unbeaten 167, Bengal declared their first innings at 560 for six, an hour after tea, on the second day of their Group B Ranji Trophy Super League tie against Gujarat in Kolkata.

Gujarat, in reply, were 10 for no loss off the six overs they played, at the Eden Gardens.

Captain Parthiv Patel (8) and all-rounder P K Panchal (1) were at the crease.

Resuming the day at the overnight score of 261 for 4, Saha, in skipper Manoj Tiwary's company, played a fine innings to stake claim for a berth in the Indian team for the upcoming tour of Australia. After registering his fifth first-class century, he successfully shouldered the responsibility after Tiwary (132) was caught by Parthiv off Amit Singh.

Coming in to bat at the fall of the fourth Bengal wicket on Thursday, Saha faced 292 balls and batted for 430 minutes. He hit 26 boundaries and a six in the process.

Saha was ably assisted by Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Sourashaish Lahiri, who remained unbeaten on 78 and 71 respectively.

While Shukla hit 12 fours and a six during his 120-ball innings, Lahiri struck six boundaries and two huge hits over the fence in his 114-ball vigil at the crease.

P K Panchal was the most successful of the visiting team's bowlers with figures of two for 41, including the prized wicket of former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

Second day's play also washed out in TN-Baroda match

The opening day's play was also washed out.

The city is experiencing heavy rain since the onset of the north-east monsoon last week.
