Services take first innings lead

Medium pacer Sudhakar Ghagh's six-wicket haul helped Services bundle out Goa for 142 and take a vital 70-run first innings lead on the second-day of the four-day Plate 'B' Ranji Trophy cricket match at the Panjim Gymkhana, in Goa on Tuesday.

At close, Services, in their second innings, were 15 for one, with P M S Reddy batting on 8 and Jasbir Singh on 5.

Resuming at their overnight score of 3 for no loss, Goa failed to cash in on the home advantage as their batsmen perished to some incisive bowling by Ghagh.

Openers Sagun Kamat (5), Supnil Asnodkar (3) and Vivek Kolambkar (17) fell cheaply to Ghagh's pace.

Rajesh Naik, who was the top scorer with 36, offered some resistance but fell after tea when he was trapped leg before off Ghagh.

The bowler then removed Faisal Shaikh leg before to finish with six for 34. This is the fifth time Ghagh has taken more than five wickets in an innings in the Ranji Trophy.

Arun Sharma also gave good support at the other end to claim two wickets. Fazal Mohammed and S Mishra took one wicket each.
