Double failure for Yuvraj as Punjab concede three points
Punjab captain Yuvraj Singh suffered a double failure as Railways picked up three points on the basis of first innings lead in the Ranji Trophy Group A match that ended in a draw, in New Delhi, on Sunday.
Railways, resuming their second innings at 180 for two, went on to declare at 245 for seven with first innings centurion Shivakant Shukla missing out on another hundred by three runs.
Punjab in their second innings were 170 for three when play was called off with Uday Kaul and Mandeep Singh batting on 61 and 41 respectively.
Railways had gained the all important lead yesterday by bowling out Punjab for 215 runs after making 331 in their first innings.
Yuvraj, who scored 9 in first innings, was out caught and bowled to Ashish Yadav on 17 for a double failure in his first match of the Ranji Trophy.

Bowlers lead Hyderabad to nine-wicket win over Goa
The bowlers, led by paceman M Ravi Kumar, scripted Hyderabad's impressive nine-wicket win by bundling out Goa for 258 in their second innings on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match, in Nagpur.
Goa, who conceded a 224-run first innings lead, needed to bat through the day to save the match but despite skipper Sagun Kamat (55) and Saurabh Bandekar (51) fighting knocks the side cracked under pressure.
Hyderabad needed only 35 tuns to win and take six points which they did by losing just one wicket. Opener Tanmay Agarwal scored an unbeaten 27 to complete the formalities.
Ravi Agarwal removed both the Goan openers in his three- wicket haul while Chama Milind, Mehdi Hasan and Vishal Sharma took two wickets apiece.

Gujarat take three points after Juneja's double ton
Mayank Juneja smashed a double hundred while Axar Patel scored his maiden century as Gujarat responded strongly to Baroda's total to secure three points on the basis of first innings lead in the Group A match in Jaipur.
In response to Baroda's 544/8 declare, Gujrat amassed 554/4 to take the lead on day four of the match that ended in a draw.
It was a marathon effort from Juneja, who consumed 334 balls to be 201 not out. Patel too played a memorable knock and was unbeaten on 109 alongside Juneja when the play was called off.
Gujarat, resuming the day at 277/4, frustrated the opposition the entire day with Juneja and Patel sharing an unbeaten 237 run stand.

Haryana earn 3 points against Services in drawn Ranji game
The Ranji Trophy match between Services and Haryana ended in a draw after a plethora of overs were lost on the first two days of the game played at the iconic Brabourne stadium in Mumbai.
The play on the first two days started post lunch owing to a wet outfield. Haryana however earned three crucial point based on their 51-run first innings lead. Services earned a point.
Services, which resumed the final day on 148/2 declared their second innings on 329/6 with half-centuries by keeper-batsman Nakul Verma (73), Ravi Chouhan (60) and Shamsher Yadav (70). They had scored a partly 197 in their first innings.
Verma, who hit 10 boundaries, was trapped leg before by leggie Yuzvendra Chahal.
Haryana had made 248 in their first innings.
Given a target of 279, Haryana batsman Nitin Saini in the second innings made most of the wicket and decimated the bowlers with a superb 101 not out.
He hit nine boundaries and a six in his fabulous knock, as Haryana reached 136/1 when play was called off The lone Haryana wicket was taken by M Khalid.

Heavyweights UP crash to innings defeat against MP
Uttar Pradesh suffered badly due to ill-health of their skipper Suresh Raina crashing to an innings and 64 run defeat at the hands of arch rivals Madhya Pradesh in an opening group league fixture in Hyderabad.
After being forced to follow-on, UP started the final day on 118 for two, with another 171 runs in arrears.
However pacer Chandrakant Sakure grabbed 6 for 40 as UP lost last seven wickets for 64 runs to be bowled out for 225 in their second innings. They had scored 176 in the first innings after MP had piled up a commendable 465 riding on Harpreet Singh Bhatia's double hundred.
Like first innings, skipper Raina did not bat in the second innings also as he is recovering from a bout of flu.
For UP, left-hander Tanmay Srivastava top-scored with 93 while Sarfaraz Khan contributed 49.

Delhi crush Assam by an innings and 83 runs in opening tie
Delhi started their Ranji Trophy campaign in a resounding fashion as they wallopped last edition's semi-finalists Assam by an innings and 83 runs on the final day of the opening group league encounter in Vadodara.
Having piled up a gigantic first innings score of 589 for 8 thereby taking a 396-run lead, Delhi bowled out Assam for 313 in their second essay to log home a maximum seven points including a bonus point.
For Delhi, it was left-arm spinner Manan Sharma, who grabbed a career-best 5/108 in 26.3 overs while left-arm seamer Pradeep Sangwan (2/40) and slow left-armer Varun Sood (2/81) chipped in with vital breakthroughs.
Needing seven wickets on the final day after Assam started the proceedings at 100 for three, Delhi bowlers kept up the pressure from the start.
The first breakthrough in the morning was provided by pacer Navdeep Saini, who got left-handed Amit Verma (35) to edge one to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.
Once the 62-run stand was broken, the other overnight batsman KB Arun Karthik (34) was snapped up by skipper Unmukt Chand off Sood's bowling to have Assam reeling at 121 for five.
As the end looked imminent, Assam's middle-order provided some resistance with Tarjinder Singh (42) adding 78 runs in company of J Syed Mohammed (82). Tarjinder became Manan's third victim caught by Sangwan.
However it was Sarupam Purkayashtha (47), who provided support to Syed Mohammed as the duo added 72 runs to delay the inevitable.
From 271 for six, it soon became 271 for eight as Sangwan send back Sarupam and Abu Nechim Ahmed (0) in a space of three deliveries.
Syed Mohammed's 154 ball vigil that consisted of 10 boundaries and two sixes ended when he tried to hoick Manan to be caught by Saini in the deep.
Manan wrapped up the proceedings by trapping Krishna Das leg before with an arm delivery to record his fifth five-wicket haul in first class cricket.

Rajasthan-Saurashtra clash ends in draw
Rajasthan managed to escape with a draw but Saurashtra picked up three points on account of their first innings in their opening Group B encounter which ended in Vizianagram, Andhra Pradesh.
On the fourth and final day of the game, Rajasthan were bowled out for 105 in their first innings in reply to Saurashtra's massive total of 430.
Forced to follow on, Rajasthan were again tottering at 30/4 before stumps were drawn.
Shaurya Sanandia was the wrecker-in-chief for Saurashtra, snaring six wickets, which broke the back of Rajasthan's batting in the first innings. He added one more to his kitty in the second innings.
Opener Manender Singh was the lone Rajasthan batsman to play a knock of significance with his 59-ball 44 in the first innings.

Prasanth, Vihari hit fifties in drawn tie
Prasanth Kumar missed out on a hundred while Hanuma Vihari also hit an unbeaten half-century as Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh split points following a draw in their rain-hit Group C match in Bhubaneswar.
Beginning the day at 47 for one, Andhra ended at 167 for one with Prasanth scoring 93 and skipper Vihari 68 as the two players added 120 runs to their overnight total.
Himachal Pradesh had scored 357 in their first innings. The entire second day was washed out while less than 30 overs could be bowled on the third day.
The match was destined for a drab draw.
Prasanth's 93 came off 191 balls with eight fours and a six while Vihari took 149 balls for his 68 that had nine shots to the fence.

Odisha draw against Vidarbha
Odisha put up an improved batting display led by skipper Govinda Poddar's fifty to eke out a draw against Vidarbha who settled for three points by virtue of their first innings lead in their group B match in Visakhapatnam.
Resuming on 74 for no loss with 48 runs in arrears, Odisha lost Sandeep Patnaik (40) after the addition of just four runs. The debutant got out to Lalit Yadav without adding anything to his overnight total.
But Odisha skipper Poddar held the innings together with a 58 (6x4, 1x6), his 13th first-class half century, before being dismissed at the stroke of lunch by Yadav 2/42).
In the second session, Odisha lost three wickets in seven runs -- Subhranshu Senapati (34), Haladhar Das (two) and Biplab Samantray (23) -- with Akshay Wakhare (3/61) striking twice in successive overs but Deepak Behera held fort with a defiant 31 not out to force a draw.
Having impressed with his medium pace bowling en route to a 3/35 on Saturday, Behera wielded the willow with three two fours and three sixes in an entertaining 64-run eighth wicket stand with Basant Mohanty (24; 3x4, 1x6).
Poddar declared their second innings with 274/9 in 102.1 as the match ended in a draw and Odisha returned with one point.

Jharkhand start with six-wicket win over Maharashtra
Jharkhand knocked off the remaining 37 runs to open their campaign with a six-wicket victory over Maharashtra in a group league encounter in New Delhi.
With a paltry victory target of 93, Jharkhand coming in at 56 for four, did not have much problems as they achieved their goal in only 6.5 overs.
Virat Singh (33 no) and Anand Singh (25 no) added 48 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket stand.
Maharashtra scored 210 and 188 in their two innings while Jharkhand scored 306 in their first essay with Kaushal Singh scoring 130.
The match attracted some attention because India's limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was training with the team and was present during the first few days watching his statemates fighting it out there in the middle.
Kaushal was adjudged Man of the Match.

Kerala settle for three after rain halts play
Rain played spoilsport to Kerala's hope of securing an outright win as they had to settle for three points by virtue of their first innings lead against Jammu and Kashmir in their group C match at Bengal Cricket Academy in Kalyani.
Following on, Jammu and Kashmir were tottering at 91 for four --- trailing by 94 runs when rain saved them from an innings defeat halting the proceedings at 1.21 pm.
The final day's play could not resume again and the match was called off at 4 pm with with Kerala getting 3 points from the game.
This was for the third consecutive day rain had halted the proceedings and J& K had a lucky escape with a point.
Wet outfield had forced a 30-minute delay this morning.
Starting on overnight score of 106 for 5 in first innings, J&K lost their remaining five wickets in 15 runs as Kerala enforced follow-on with a massive 205-run lead.
Kerala spinners took 8 wickets in J&K's first innings and it was their left-arm orthodox K Monish who led the way with exceptional figures of 4/9 from his eight overs.
Iqbal Abdulla (3/36) and Jalaj Saxena (1/3) were the other two spinners who brought about opposition downfall for 121 in 44 overs.
Parveez Rasool's boys began their second innings ominously when Basil Thampi bowled Adil Reshi for a duck to reduced them to 0/1.
Later left-arm spinner Abdulla (2/21) struck twice in two overs to reduce them to 91/4 in 31.3 overs when rain cut short a gripping finish.
Opener Shubham Khajuria remained steady at the other end with an unbeaten 39 (6x4).
