An unbeaten ton by Anirudh Singh helped Hyderabad pile up 254 for three against Maharashtra [ Images ] in a truncated first day of the Ranji Trophy match at the Chhatrapati Shivaji stadium in Karad on Thursday.
Hyderabad's top order responded splendidly after captain VVS Laxman [ Images ] elected to bat first on an untested track.
D Ravi Teja [ Images ] (81) and Singh posted a 121-run second wicket partnership to give the visitors a strong foundation.
But India [ Images ] batsman VVS Laxman failed to make the most of the opportunity as he was dismissed after a laboured knock of 31 off 75 balls.
