Pakistan is still awaiting confirmation from India of dates for a four-day match between the national champions of each country, a cricket official said on Friday.

The first-class game between India's Ranji Trophy champions and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy winners in Pakistan was scheduled for Sept. 19-22 in Dharmasala but cancelled due to the unavailability of several Indian players.

Uttar Pradesh are the Ranji Trophy champions and Sialkot won the Quaid Trophy.

"We have now asked them for fresh dates preferably in the last week of Sept. We are very keen this match should go ahead this year," PCB

director of cricket operations Saleem Altaf told Reuters.

An Indian board official said last week the match would take place from Sept. 27-30 but Altaf said nothing had been received confirming the new dates."

"Our national champions are very keen on this match and if we don't have it in Sept our new domestic season would have started," Altaf added.

The match is part of a package agreed by the two boards to enhance bilateral cricket relations between the countries.

Similar games took place in 1989 and 1991 in Lahore and New Delhi, drawing large crowds.
