Jamie How and Brendon McCullum shared a record partnership as New Zealand beat South Africa by seven wickets to level the one-day series on Friday.
How and McCullum shared 154, New Zealand's biggest second-wicket stand against South Africa. The previous record was an unbroken 140 set by Stephen Fleming and Nathan Astle in Johannesburg in 2002-03.
South Africa totalled 209-9 after winning the toss and choosing to bat.
New Zealand replied with 210-3 to win with 11.2 overs to spare, lining up a decider for the three-match series in Cape Town on Sunday.
