India [ Images ] suffered an injury blow on the third day of the opening Test against New Zealand [ Images ] when batting mainstay Rahul Dravid [ Images ] hurt the finger of his right hand when going for a fast-travelling catch off Jesse Ryder [ Images ] on Saturday.
Dravid, two short of becoming the first non-wicketkeeper in Test history to complete 200 catches, got hurt while trying to hold on to the left-handed Ryder's thick outside edge off S Sreesanth [ Images ] when the batsman was on 11 in a team score of 166 for four.
He left the field a few overs after getting hurt and was substituted by reserve Cheteshwar Pujara [ Images ] for the remainder of the second session.
He did not come out at the resumption of play in the final session.
Ryder and debutant Kane Williamson [ Images ] then defied the Indian attack for the entire session without being separated as New Zealand advanced to 237 for four when tea was called.
Dravid had scored a hundred and featured in a double century stand with Virender Sehwag [ Images ] who top-scored with 173 in the Indian first innings tally of 487.
