No Katich, Clarke face-off in domestic circuit

November 03, 2011 13:54 IST

Australian cricketers Simon Katich and Michael Clarke will not turn up together for their domestic side New South Wales this month due to the duo's recent war of words.

Katich had accused Clarke of playing a part in the termination of his central contract due to a dressing-room altercation they had in 2009.

Clarke, Australia's current captain in all three formats of the game, reacted strongly to the accusation saying that making such claims will not help Katich if he ever intends to make a comeback to the side.

Katich now faces Cricket Australia's disciplinary action after being charged with making detrimental public comments.

And given the volatile situation between the two players Australia's medical staff have ensured that Katich and Clarke don't play for NSW together this month.

"The NSW-Western Australia clash at the SCG is one of two Sheffield Shield games scheduled from November 25 to 28, which falls between the end of the South African tour and the first Test against New Zealand in Brisbane," the Daily Telegraph reported.

"However, forward planning by Australia's medical staff has recommended that all those who played in South Africa should skip that round of Shield games," it added.

"Katich may miss the match anyway if he is suspended after claiming that he would never be picked for Australia again as long as Clarke was captain."
