Lord's now home to first ever stadium wedding

March 17, 2011 15:29 IST

Neil Nicholson and Kelli Fish will become the first couple to marry at Lord's this August.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns the ground in London, has increasingly opened up its facilities for public functions, and has now been granted a marriage licence.

According to the Telegraph, the couple will get ready in the dressing rooms, exchange vows in the Writing Room, have a champagne reception on the pavilion roof and their wedding breakfast in the Long Room.

"Neil is a huge cricket fan. I'd have been happy with getting married on a beach, but I'm really excited by this because he is excited," Kelli said.

Costs range from 1,000 pounds for a ceremony in the 60-seat Writing Room with a reception to 4,000 pounds for a ceremony in the Long Room, which can hold 230 guests, without a reception.

The wedding breakfast will cost £145 a head and a tour of Lord's £9.16 a head.

The bride and groom are also offered complimentary tickets for a Test match.

MCC members will be entitled to a 50 per cent discount on room hire and a 10 per cent discount on the wedding package.
