S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandilya, the three Rajasthan Royals players who have been arrested for spot-fixing and banned from the Indian Premier League, were in touch with two bookies, Delhi police sources told Rediff.com
Sources say the bookies, who go by the names 'Jupiter' and 'Shubham,' had contacted the players individually to make their offer.
While the amounts have not been disclosed by the Delhi police, they confirm that the deal was for the trio -- Sreesanth bowls medium space; Chavan is a left-arm spinner; Chandilya is an off-spinner -- to bowl wides and no-balls.
The Delhi police say the bookies, who were in touch with the trio, have been under the scanner for some time. The players came under the Delhi police radar only 20 days ago.
The matches that are under a cloud are the ganes played between the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on May 9, and the game between the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians on April 17 in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan Royals won both games.
The police are also probing the mode of payment made to the players. The money may have been transferred through hawala, the sources said.
