India fast bowler Ishant Sharma claimed five wickets but Delhi failed to make it count as they went down to Vidarbha by 18 runs in a Group C match of the Vijay Hazare One-Day tournament, in Delhi on Friday.

Electing to bat at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Vidarbha rode on opener Faiz Fazal's 83 to post 163 all out in 45.2 overs -- a total which proved challenging in the low-scoring encounter.

Delhi pacer Sharma bowled his heart out to return impressive figures of five for 21. His effort was backed up by Navdeep Amardeep Saini and Subodh Bhati, who bagged two wickets each.

Chasing what seemed an easy target for the star-studded line-up, Delhi faltered against a disciplined bowling attack, led by pace spearhead Umesh Yadav.

Opener Unmukt Chand top-scored with 57, as skipper Gautam Gambhir (6) again failed to lead by example.

Umesh, Ravi Jangid, Akshay Karnewar and Akshay Wakhare claimed two wickets each to help Vidarbha register their first victory after the loss to Odisha on Thursday.

Brief Scores:

Vidarbha 163 all out in 45.2 overs (Faiz Fazal 83, S Badrinath 20; Ishant Sharma 5-21) vs Delhi 145 all out in 45.1 overs (Unmukt Chand 57, Milind 25; Akshay Karnewar 2-17).

Tamil Nadu outclass Mumbai despite Herwadkar's ton

The Ravichandran Ashwin-led side, which earlier defeated Assam in their opening match on Thursday, have eight points in their kitty.

Sent in to bat, Tamil Nadu piled up a huge 312 for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs and then bowled out Mumbai for 286 in 44.2 overs.

Tamil Nadu struggled at the start, losing two quick wickets as they were reduced to 28 for two in the eighth over before Baba Aparajith (77) and Murali Vijay (55) hit half-centuries, putting on 128 runs for the third wicket.

Baba Indrajith slammed 60 not out from 52 balls, while R Sathish blasted 52 from 30 ball to take the attack to the Mumbai bowlers in the final few overs.

Chasing the mammoth score, opener Akhil Herwadkar's (107) century went in vain after the opener smashed 16 fours and a six in his 86-ball knock.

The in-form Shreyas Iyer slammed a quickfire 44 from 32 balls, while Siddhesh Lad stroked a 40-ball 47, but the former's dismissal in the 33rd over saw Mumbai lose their way before they were bowled out in the 45th over, their last six wickets falling for 69 runs.

Gujarat rode on opener Priyank Kirit Panchal's 62 to achieve their target in 40.5 overs.

If the second-wicket 111-run partnership between Panchal and skipper Parthiv Patel (44) laid the base for their comfortable victory then Rujul Bhatt (24 not out and Axar Patel made sure (32 not out) that they only lost four wickets in the process.

Put in to bat at the Palam ground, Baroda rode on a 159-run opening stand between Kedar Devdhar (81) and Aditya Waghmode (76) to post 291 for six in 50 overs.

Even though skipper Ambati Rayudu was out for 1, Deepak Hooda (53) and Yusuf Pathan (46 not out) made it count for the side, which had lost their first game against Delhi.
