I am sure I won't need surgery, says Ishant

India pace bowler Ishant Sharma is confident that he would not require surgery to recover from an ankle injury, which had forced him to miss the One-day International series during the recently concluded England tour.

The lanky bowler has been undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

"Though I'm yet to bowl with full run-up, but my rehab is progressing well. I will start bowling at full pace soon. Thanks to my rehab program, I am sure I won't need surgery," Ishant said.

Ishant spearheaded India's attack in England in the absence of senior pro Zaheer Khan.

Ishant SharmaThe fast bowler is confident that India would be able to avenge their defeat against England when they host the Britishers soon.

"We would give England a taste of their own medicine," the Delhi bowler told a news channel.

India were whitewashed 0-4 in Test series and 0-3 in the five-match One-day series as several key players suffered injuries during the nightmarish tour of England.

India not only surrendered their number one Test rank but also slipped to number five in ODIs.
